The climate, soils and regions of Australia have some of the oldest geology and most complex soils in the world – making some of the worlds most distinct wine styles. Australia, alongside New Zealand & South Africa, is a founding member of the Six Nations – known back in 2003 as the Tri-Nations Wine Challenge. With some 65 regions, diversity is the name of the game. Australia regularly challenges the other participants for Nation of Show with a significant medal haul – Excellence in Sparkling, Chardonnay, Semillon, Riesling, Shiraz, Cabernet & Red Blends keeps Australia on the cutting edge.

Australian wine – sunshine in a bottle! Well, this is still true, however there is so much more to discover in the ‘down under’ wine scene. Diversity is the name of the game, with a new wave of talented young winemakers constantly pushing the boundaries across this vast land. Certain varieties are synonymous with Australian Wine – Shiraz, Chardonnay and Semillon to name but a few. These are now being planted in specially selected areas to reflect the true varietal characteristics – resulting in a range of wine styles for the consumers. There is also increased focus on Mediterranean varieties including Tempranillo, Sangiovese, Mourvedre, Barbera. The only consistency is change!
